The annual Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute benefit, also known as the Met Gala, is New York’s biggest fashion event. Over 500 designers, actors and actresses, Hollywood elite, Wall Street bigwigs and Silicon Valley protégés attend the red carpet spectacle. The museum’s fashion event this year was entitled “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.” It is the second time a single designer is honored in the exhibition, with Comme des Garçon’s Rei Kawakubo being selected for 2017. Oscar de la Renta was the first and only other designer to share this honor. Anna Wintour, Vogue editor and artistic director of Condé Nast, selected Katy Perry to co-host this year’s gala.
