This June, Picturehouse Central in London will be debuting the newest film on designer Alexander McQueen entitled McQueen. The documentary follows the life and career of McQueen, starting with his graduation from Central Saint Martin’s art school to the fashion shows before his suicide in 2010. An intimate look into his world is revealed through countless interviews with family, close friends and collaborators as well as raw backstage show footage. Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui bring light to the darkness of McQueen’s world, providing archived audio and clips that hint to McQueen’s “tortured but inspired” works. Eight years after his death, this film demonstrates the void Alexander McQueen left on the fashion industry can never be filled.
“McQueen” is showing at the Picturehouse Central on June 8. Read our review of the last Alexander McQueen exhibition “Savage Beauty” here.
