December 31, 2015

If you haven’t already, we recommend shopping the post-Christmas sales. There are biannual deals on designers available only in the U.S., but it is also the perfect opportunity to invest in the invest-worthy. Jewelry, furs, designer clothes and accessories have all dropped tremendously on shopping sites like Net-A-Porter and Moda Operandi. Besides the high street brands that have day-t0-day fashion selections, there are also pieces inside of stores like Zara from new Premium collections consisting of suedes, leathers and silks. These are higher quality and drop tremendously from their relatively higher price tag. Sales this time of year are exceptional because it is also the best time to buy into trends from the year that weren’t worthy the pretty penny marked, and now have dropped to something more reasonable. These are styles that probably won’t be as hot in two years, or may make a comeback in the future, but most likely aren’t necessarily a staple in every wardrobe like the little black dress.  If you are still confused, we are referring to 2015’s trends of platform sneakers, all things fringe, those lace see-through dresses that premiered at the Met Gala earlier this year.

STEER CLEAR: Do not buy into that which is already out of style for the year. It is not worth the purchase on sale, some things need to stay in 2015. Instead, invest in what is hot for spring, like see-through lace. Brands like For Love and Lemons has had an extensive collection all year, and based on the runway shows we saw for S/S 16, it isn’t going away. Other trends to buy: raffia textured clothing (the new fringe), pink-hued clothes (Pantone’s color of the year), and off-the-shoulder pieces for spring.
