Mother’s Day this year will take on a different look, with stay-at-home measures still in place across the country because of Covid-19. We have plans to celebrate in the backyard this year and were inspired to get gifts that would be appropriate for pandemic times.
Moms across the U.S. (like ours) have been cooking more often with restaurants closed, so we have rounded up some of our favorite cookware and entertaining pieces. Just because it is a pandemic, doesn’t mean you can’t dress up your tables and upgrade the kitchen!
One recent purchase we made for mom was the GreenPan cookware set. Food52 did a beautiful collab with the Belgium nontoxic cookware brand and created an 8-piece cookware set in a sage-blue with gold hardware. Unlike other nonstick brands, GreenPan is ovensafe, dishwasher safe and free of PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead and cadmium. Not only does it make for easy cleanup, but it looks extremely elegant. If sage-blue isn’t your color, Goop created a 10-piece collection with GreenPan in blush pink and stores like William-Sonoma carry a wide selection of colors and styles.
Another favorite of ours is the Laguiole Jean Dubost Steak Knives Set. We purchased these years ago and they still look elegant and new. Grilling season is upon us, and what better way to spruce up the table than with these premium quality French knives.
Lately, we have all gotten a little bored in the kitchen, running out of ideas for meals after cooking for 7 weeks straight. A few new cookbooks can provide the inspiration mothers need to keep things fresh. Besides the Ladurée cookbook on sweets, these cookbooks are from LA and SF restaurants we miss dining at. We have used all of these cookbooks and highly recommend giving them a try. These cookbooks have also inspired us to buy an Anova Sous Vide machine. We bought this for cooking steaks, chicken and anything else we think will benefit from a hot jacuzzi bath. Let us just say: it has been life-changing. Why didn’t we purchase this before? Never will we ever have dry steak and lamb or overcooked chicken. The sous vide doesn’t just perfect your meat but it cuts cooking time and hassle times ten! After weeks in the kitchen, this has been a game changer.
All the products discussed above have been linked below, with a few alternatives as well! We have purchased these products for this Mother’s Day and years prior, and mom has never been unhappy!
