For February fashion month, fashion show attendees will usually dress in looks from the season’s previous runway shows. This means Spring/Summer ’19 fresh-off-the-runway looks in an arctic New York February! I opted for lots of flowy and oversized pieces this season so that I could accommodate many hidden thermals underneath! Tricks of the trade!
My first look for NYFW was a spring-inspired, light pastel Layeur dress. I chose it because yellow is a trending color this spring, but also for its gorgeous tailoring and movement. I paired the dress with a belt at the waist to bring a silhouette to my body as I had an oversized raincoat from Mansur Gavriel on top. I pulled the cuffs from the dress out of the coat and scrunched up the sleeves on the raincoat using a rubber band to hold them in place. This gave me a more slimming, tailored form by bringing shape back to the arms. I chose a lilac bag from Roksanda to play into the pastel vibes I was going for, but with a geometric flare in its unique shape and gold hardware.
On day two for the Nanushka presentation, I wore the olive puff coat from my dear friend Mariam Alsibai’s collection. It was a rainy, chilly NYC morning and this coat was the perfect choice, like a wearing a quilted blanket! I bought an extra large belt as there is a lot of fabric to gather in for a tight waistline, and opted to not wear a purse as I didn’t want to add more bulk to my look. I brought in a pointy toe heel to create a more slimming effect for such a larger-than-life coat, which complimented the sharp, tailored slacks I wore.
